Rick Perry makes obscene reference, talking about Herman Cain controversy
the explanation is too graphic to post at DU, so I'll let you go to the link if you don't know where "in the barrel" comes from.

(...)

"Any time that you rise to the top of the polls, any time that you appear that you are going to be an individual of substance that those on the left are concerned about, you're going to get whacked," Perry told O'Reilly when asked whether the scrutiny of Herman Cain served as a cautionary tale.

"As you said" - he continued to O'Reilly - "it's Herman's turn in the barrel."

Oh, Rick.

The "turn in the barrel" phrase comes from an old joke; here's a typical version:

doesn't go where it should.

Here's a working (for me) link for the urban dictionary reference: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=in+the+barrel

7. I did a little research on this.
and I think this blogger makes a very interesting point. That said, is it possible Perry was talking about this political cartoon?

It's from October 25.

Not that it really helps now that I know the awful reference about all of this....

9. Oh, come on! Beat him up for the useless shit he is, but all this over an...
old joke is ridiculous. Who here has never dropped a line like that?

Picking on every chickenshit little thing a politician may say is pointless, childish, and will backfire.

11. Ykes!
Looked it up in Urban Dictionary.

This is even better than Clayton Willaims (ran for Tx governor in 1990 and assured Ann Richard's win by telling reporters that when women get raped they should just "relax and enjoy it" and how as a lad he went across the border and "serviced Mexican whores."

It is no big secret that abortions and whores are available across the border, but most people don't brag about it.

Some Southern gents are gents and then there is crud like Whorehouse Perry and Claty.

16. Obscene? Hyperbole much?
Of the many many idiotic things Perry has done and will do, this salty saying is hardly "obscene" (except possibly to some puritans who I would expect don't normally visit DU).
