CBS was a disgrace last night
No one made them cover the GOP debate, that was their choice. Once they chose that, they should have covered the entire thing, not part of it. The stream they provided was so bad as to be unwatchable. We deserved better.

1. Do you know if this is repeated anywhere?
I had several interruptions and wasn't able to get a handle on the number of replies that were misguided or downright lies. I'd love to watch it all at one time.

What I can't understand is why they have so many debates? It's like a season of Comedy-Today shows. Surely, they realize how much damage they are doing to the candidates...not that I care. Just curious. I can't imagine so many entities actually wanted to host them.

I also find that the audience is very telling. They remind me of the ancient battles in the coliseums. I swear some are getting their highs when a candidate gets gored.

6. For the candidates
the debates and all coverage afterward are free advertising. For the networks, the debates have gotten really good ratings, possibly because they are more entertaining than informative. As for the audience, I have no idea where they get them, but they sound like left overs from the Jerry Springer show. This seems to be the new reality TV.

18. Thanks. All the MSM reports on are the gaffs. I want to see their opinions.
Not that it would matter, as they change them several times/day.

What little I heard was scary, though. They won't be happy until they hit Iran...they've always got a target at-the-ready.

15. The 24 debates = public financing of elections
With 24 scheduled debates, even candidates with no money like Newt can compete.

17. They have so many debates because it reinforces the rightwing narrative
It's basically the same strategy the right has been using for decades ... keep framing the issues and keep repeating the false narrative over and over and over again so that it becomes "conventional wisdom" among their audience.

It's the strategy famously used and described by Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's propagandist:
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

2. Which part was not covered?
The merely nutty part or the certifiably insane part?

5. That's lousy!
I refuse to watch any part of that clown circus, but I don't hold it against anyone who wants to keep an eye on those douchenozzles. Practically a dereliction of duty on the part of CBS IMO.

but felt that the foreign policy views were important. I did get to see an hour minus commercials.

operator who wants to privatize SS; a "bi-partisan" on-line youth group figure; a female bank executive; etc.

The only one who seems to have anything that isn't totally RW reactionary is a history professor, and the comments they high-lighted from her was her praise of American exceptionalism.

CBS News Division under Sumner Redstone has become a group cluster f-ck and Fox News Lite.

9. Agreed over here as well.
As much as the GOP debates are like watching an aquarium full of rabid hyenas on crack, CBS should at least commit to following through on the whole thing. "Debates" are short enough without the networks trying to bullshit their way into shortening them further.

10. On the one hand it is
kinda hilarious that NCIS trumps the Republican candidates. I mean, I have to agree w/ CBS that they are really that bad. On the other hand, I don't like the idea that I have to switch to a different medium in order to continue watching a show. This is especially problematic for those of us who watch everything on our DVRs so we don't have to watch commercials.

16. They are all losers....
All these debates are like a TV series. Why not "Debating with the GOP Candidates" on every week. Len Goodman and Simon Cowell among the judges....and of course the public gets to call in and vote. Every week one of them gets eliminated. Last one standing is candidate...which will save every state a lot of money by not having a primary election.
