Obama's new best buds: the Tea Party
As already http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/07/obama-chamber-of-commerce-speech_n_819571.html">documented (though most obviously by Obama's own signature authorizing job-offshoring trade deals and domestic budget-cutting commissions and subsidies to private health insurance companies and pharma companies, among others), Obama's firm friendship with the US Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable and the Fat Cat Elite in general hasn't at all been affected by the professional wrestling-style phony animosity between Obama and the GOP that's been staged for the masses.

Obama newest "frenemy"? The Tea Party:

Tea Party buys in to trade
By Kevin Bogardus - 10/18/11 04:30 AM ET

Freshman House Republicans voted overwhelmingly for a trio of trade deals last week despite hopes from opponents that the faction would move en bloc to stop them.

The 89 House Republicans new to Congress this year — many of whom were backed by the Tea Party — were courted by both sides of the debate over the long-stalled trade deals with Colombia, Panama and South Korea.

snip

But in the end, almost all of the GOP frosh voted in favor of the three agreements. Rep. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) told The Hill a consensus formed among the newcomers that the trade deals deserved their support.

snip

Business groups and other pro-trade advocates waged an intense lobbying campaign to ensure that the Tea Party-backed members were on board with the deals.

So when your job goes 'bye-bye' or you find your wages/salary cut by 30% or more because the Obama/GOP deal allowed S.Korean imports -- made by Chinese or North Korean or migrant labor virtual slave-workers -- to undercut your employer or otherwise further shrink the national economy down to the size of a pea for the sake of the very top of the economic pyramid, don't just thank Obama -- thank Obama and the Tea Party.

24. That doesn't automatically prove that what is being said
is worthy of a hearing.

2. Ummm o.k.
:eyes:

Intersecting on an issue or two (that most Democrats and Republicans currently agree on in general) doesn't make them "best buds"- but you probably knew that, right?

4. Yeah, Obama and the Tea Party are apart on just "an issue or two"
Edited on Sun Nov-13-11 04:11 PM by brentspeak
Of course, those issue are merely the most widely-sweeping pieces of legislation which will destroy what's left of the American middle class.

Other than that, they really hate each other. Kind of like how Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant would go out for steak together after screaming at each other in front of the microphone.

23. I'm sure that anybody in the so-called Tea Party would be quite surprised to find out
about they and Obama are "best buds"- which, of course explains their unrelenting hatred and smearing of him from the moment he took office.

6. Your post is based on a complete and total falsehood.
"So when your job goes 'bye-bye' or you find your wages/salary cut by 30% or more because the Obama/GOP deal allowed S.Korean imports"

The US ALREADY allows imports from South Korea. The trade deal is about THEM allowing imports FROM US.

"The US ALREADY allows imports from South Korea. The trade deal is about THEM allowing imports FROM US."

S. Korea products are subject to tariffs. KORUS will reduce/eliminate tariffs on almost all Korean-originated products, including the 25% tariffs on small trucks that have so-far prevented Kia and Hyundai from enroaching on US auto manufacturers in the small truck market: http://www.epi.org/temp727/WorkingPaper289-2.pdf (page 6)

Please do some research before posting.

15. There is so much ignorance here about that trade agreement.
So much that it barely seems possible.

Right? Any post that leads with "Obama's new best buds: the Tea Party" is just downright silly, regardless of the actual content.
