Oh, and by the way even if he is a Republican I still have a great deal of respect for General Powell.

I view Colin Powell as Chuck Hagel,they should have been Democratic instead of Republican.

4. Yes, but he has recognized that he was wrong. Something that the rest

of the Bush Kabul have neither been called on, or are willing to admit to. As I said, I'm not certain Powell should be a Republican and he wasn't until 1995. He supports President Obama, (good or bad) and voted for him in 2008.

he knew invading Iraq was wrong but he went along with it - no doubt he thought he was helping his own career. Couple that with his helping to cover up My Lai and all I can see is a career war criminal. Voting for Obama doesn't excuse his past crimes, he should be in prison along with the rest of Bush & Company.

6. Well, thats a difference of opinion and thats why we are free to discuss

this on DU. I listen to General Powell and think that he realizes that he knows how badly he F'ed up during that period in time and if he could go back and redo it he would. Right or wrong, that's how I read him.

I seriously think that he would make (have made) a great President, but has and has never had any desire to become President. Also, I believe that President Obama has a great deal of respect for General Powell.

10. Take it where you like, but hey none of the Bush criminals have been

accused, never mind charged with a crime (and that seriously pisses me off). As far as I am concerned, 911 investigations should be reopened as well, and I'm certain we would get totally at the problem with that. But you know what? That is never going to happen in my life time.

9. He's got a lot of work to do if he wants to earn forgiveness.

If he acknowledges that he made a huge mistake that resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths, maybe more than a million, and helped send America's, and the world's economy into a tailspin, it's a start. He's still got a very long way to go. One problem he will have, should he try to make good on his mistakes, is that his credibility is so badly damaged that many people just don't take him seriously. That will make it difficult for him to become a major force for good, assuming that is his true intention.

As I said, he knows he F**ed Up, and I am not clear that it wasn't a racial thing that has to do with Dick Cheney laying heavies on him during Powell's time. Hey, I might be totally out in left field on my views of Powell, but that is my opinion, and I'm sticking with it.
