Why should we consider advice from business leaders on correcting economic problems?
They are the ones for the most part that made contributions to those elected (Republican) congressional members that caused the problem. All they care about is lowering their tax rates.

1. Repugs are obsessed with having 'businessmen' run things.
And they want you to be obsessed with it, too.

2. You nailed it...and as politicians they answer to us, not the other way round...
as they are used to in business settings where everyone kisses their ass and they get paid exorbitant compensation despite screwing the company and shareholders.

3. Depends on which business leaders we're talking about.
Or is your position that every business person is evil?

As a simple example ... Ben and Jerry of Ben and Jerry's ice cream ... they are business leaders.

We on the left often say that the GOP and the right wing is unable to handle complexity ... that they see the world as black and white.

It doesn't help if we do that too.

4. Don't know really...
Since government =/= business. Realistically, we should be considering advice from people who run successful non-profits.

6. That would be Newt Gingrich

It is easy to run a successful non-profit. They can be the most lucrative things to run.

5. Absolutely. That is what the OWS is against. How the rich have bought government and imposed.
their worldview on everything and tried to remake the country to suit only their needs.

7. Well, here is what Obama's go to guy says
Three ways to combat rising inequality

By Lawrence Summers, Published: November 20

First, government must not facilitate increases in inequality by rewarding the wealthy with special concessions.
Second, there is scope for pro-fairness, pro-growth tax reform.
Third, the public sector must ensure greater equity in areas of the most fundamental importance.

Neither the politics of polarization nor those of noblesse oblige on behalf of the fortunate will serve to protect the interests of the middle class in the post-industrial economy.

Basically, he's saying not much of anything. He's blaming circumstances, or whatever. He's basically saying we're fucked if we didn't win the birth lottery, and it's not going to get better any time soon.

9. Another Republican fallacy
Running one business gives a person no experience on the big picture. They only have to run that business. And they only have to answer to its owners, not to something like the voters.
