Newt Gingrich won't appear on Missouri ballot

Newt Gingrich may be a top-tier contender in the latest polls, but he won't be contending at all in Missouri's Republican presidential primary in February.

The former House speaker, who is putting a campaign organization together on the fly, failed to qualify for the contest in the Show Me State.

According to the Missouri Secretary of State's office, Gingrich did not file the necessary papers as of Tuesday's 5 p.m. deadline. That means his name will not be on the Feb. 7 ballot.

The filing requirements are not particularly onerous. A $1,000 check and some paperwork are all that's needed.

3. I've wondered if he isn't just pissed that all of a sudden he's on

the top of the heap. He hasn't been seriously campaigning, just promoting his book, traveling to exotic locales, almost disappeared at one point.

Mrs. Gingrich would have to curtail her love of bling and bobbles should she become First Lady - I don't think either of them want to downsize their way of conspicuous consumption.

even though his think tank made nearly $40 million? I wonder if he has a gambling problem in addition to his wife's addiction to diamonds.

How could he have possibly met the deadline. He's an American Patriot after all. He got so involved in saving America, that he must have forgotten about it. Like he forgot he was married and had an affair or 2 or 3.
