Put Frank in as Treasury Secretary
I can't think of a better spokesman. He has been working on financial issues for his entire career. If the Senate refuses to confirm a treasury secretary in this time of crisis just paint them as the anti gay bigots they are. This is a win win. Get rid of Geitner who has been not so great, and put in a true, liberal warrior. And as a bonus, a historic first for the cabinet.

4. !
 If Elizabeth Warren couldn't be confirmed, there's no way in hell Barney Frank could. It's really that simple, and I think the o.p. knows it, and why would we waste more time in this Congress, with pointless "symbolic" fights?

8. because some fights matter
Frank would be a qualified man who was only blocked due to being gay, a perfect symbol of Republican bigotry. It also would allow Obama to pivot on the economy.

12. Because not fighting equals surrender which equals GOP legislation written by RW bi-partisans

To give up without a fight is rather pitiful.
Being pitiful is not reality based in my opinion, it is giving in to what they want and agreeing to it out of fear.

Case in point, Newt Gingrich got his 1993 Health Insurance profit plan (written by the Heritage Foundation) passed, and the Democrats are the ones that passed it and will bear the brunt of the repercussions once the fines start going out and the healthcare costs prove to rise rather than fall under such a plan.

10. + 1000000
Frank is all the op says. He is brilliant and Finance has been his main field in Congress. It is not his sexuality that would create a problem, but that he has been a symbol the Republicans use on the financial collapse.

He did not want to fight for his district, which is very winnable. Why do you think he would be interested by this.
