Gingrich Closes the Gap in New Hampshire
A new Insider Advantage poll in New Hampshire shows Mitt Romney just ahead of Newt Gingrich in the first presidential primary state, 31% to 27%.


(NH is supposed to be Mitten's fire wall--and if the Grinch wins Iowa he could have the momentum to win NH--then score a decisive victory in SC & then (maybe) eliminate Mittens in Florida).

1. Wow. If he wins NH then that might be the end of of it.

3. It would really be amazing that the strangest pre-primary election ever IMO

could end up being one of the least exciting races when looked at just when the voting started. If Gingrich wins Iowa, it is hard to imagine him not getting at least a small boost in NH. All winners (other than native son Harkin) did in the past decades I followed it. Here,the numbers are already so close it seems very likely. Not to mention, a narrow win in NH is not enough to boost Romney. His bar in NH is set higher than that - he is a near favorite son. (Remember that it was Bill Clinton coming it second who got all the media as the "comeback kid" in 1992, not former MA Senator Tsongus who won.) After NH, the race goes to SC - and that is not a Romney stronghold.

I would expect that this will lead to a very nasty Romney/Gingrich war over the next month. I suspect it is no longer Romney's to lose. Romney can lose if the conservatives really do band behind an anti-Mitt. (OT This is fascinating to me, as I never saw a clearer AB (candidate X), that actually worked. On our sides, there was lots of talk in 1976 and 1992 of ABC, where C = Carter and then Clinton, but they never really were able to get behind one alternative. Here because so many self destructed, they might as who is left? I don't think even Republicans like Santorum.

4. Gingrich definitely has the momentum now and a win in Iowa will just build on that.

Cain dropping out would also likely help him. Seems the elephant turds are aligning for the Newtser.
