Newt - just now on Hannity- on 1st divorce in the hospital- "I was immature" - he was 37 years old
AND a member of Congress

Newton Leroy "Newt" Gingrich ( /ˈnuːt ˈɡɪŋɡrɪtʃ/; born Newton Leroy McPherson; June 17, 1943)

Gingrich has been married three times. In 1962, he married Jackie Battley, his former high school geometry teacher, when he was 19 years old and she was 26.<129><130> Gingrich and Battley have two daughters from this marriage: Kathy Gingrich Lubbers is president of Gingrich Communications,<131> and Jackie Gingrich Cushman is an author, conservative columnist, and political commentator<132> whose books include 5 Principles for a Successful Life, co-authored with Newt Gingrich.<133> In the spring of 1980, Gingrich left Battley after having an affair with Marianne Ginther.<134><135> In 1984, Battley told the Washington Post that the divorce was a "complete surprise" to her. According to Battley, in September 1980, Gingrich and their children visited her while she was in the hospital, recovering from surgery, and Gingrich wanted to discuss the terms of their divorce.<136> Gingrich has disputed that account.<103> In 2011, their daughter, Jackie Gingrich Cushman, said that it was her mother who requested the divorce, that it happened prior to the hospital stay, and that Gingrich's visit was for the purpose of bringing the couple's children to see their mother, not to discuss the divorce.<137>

12. Oh, I don't know...I was pretty stung by John Edwards' shocking lack of both
morals and maturity. Ad then there's bill Clinton...

I was just remembering how I defended that POS John Edwards initially, when the story about riele hunter had just begun to surface...

16. Disappointing I'm sure
I wasn't very happy about what Clinton did either. It was REALLY boneheaded of him IMHO to get involved with Monica Lewinsky and carry on an affair in the WH when everybody knew about his past. Between everything else, it was one huge distraction (on top of others) that diminished his legacy and ability to accomplish things during the last part of his second term, as well as helped set up a more difficult campaign for Gore in 2000. The only "silver lining" about the whole situation is that, thanks to Larry Flynt, it exposed the GOP's "family values" hypocrisy and brought Newt down. I was disappointed to hear about Edwards but I'm glad that he pulled himself out of the running for POTUS in 2008 rather than continue on and possibly win the nomination and/or get selected as VP or something.

18. Yes, but we don't go around saying we're the "family values" party
And the religious right tends to turn a blind eye to Republicans' past discretions and "forgive" them. Democrats are another story.

9. Isn't it odd he married his teacher in the first place?
It makes you wonder if that relationship started years earlier and, in modern times, would be front page on the tabloids and covered 24/7 on cable news.

I love how the GO is dropping the adulterer Cain for the adulterer Gingrich.

23. Henry Hyde used "Youthful Indescretion" to explain his cheating
which came out during his lead role in the Clinton impeachment.

Hyde was 42 years old when he cheated on his wife. :eyes:

17. I LOVED that defense! It was brilliant!
Even my repub neighbor was laughing about that one! We had a very pleasant conversation about Newt working so hard for his country that "adultery happened" and he realized to his surprise that his pants were down around his ankles and who knew that would happen?

20. Isnt that how the Chimp explained his alcoholism?
And on MSNBC this morning, they're discussing how Gingrich now claims that during his tenure as speaker, he claims that HE balanced the budget, He invented supply side economics, and HE ended communism.
