People say that Mitt Romney is the most "electable" GOP candidate

because he appears to be more of a "moderate" Republican- having been the Governor of a deep blue state- but, assuming he winds up winning the nomination, how will he be able to demonstrate to the general electorate that he's a moderate Republican "answer" to President Obama AND keep the wingnuts in line? He's shown every willingness to pander to the wingnuts during this primary (so far) to win the nomination and they still don't trust him and have been busy checking out almost every other alternative candiate on the roster. How the hell is he going to be able to move to the "middle" enough to present a sane Republican alternative to President Obama to the American people AND keep the wingnuts from becoming demoralized and getting them to the polls on Election Day? He's basically going to be screwed either way IMHO. I just don't see how he threads that needle, do you?

My general belief that, bad economy or not, the GOP has basically boxed themselves in for 2012 because of their embrace of the Tea Party.

1. And he got rich by shuttering companies and laying off workers.
I do not think that will be very appealing to voters.

4. The MSM Will Do It For Him, Same as Any Other Republican
They'll dress him up moderate on most of the MSM, and let him pander to the base on Faux.

5. It's also predicated on the silly idea that people care about ideology
People who say Romney is electable have forgotten that elections are almost always more about style than they are about substance. The bottom line is that people don't fucking like Romney and they don't trust him.

7. Huntsman is the most electable. Mitt has a shot but he is going to face a strange world to him
Obama is going to have a LOT more money than he does. He has never played on a field like that.

9. you are so right. mittens went all out to please the baggers...he
reneged on every single liberalish thing he ever did. There's no way he can go liberal...crazy....liberal again. that would be more than flip flopping...it would be flip-flip flopping.

Newt has taken a more moderate turn with the immigrant situation.

Between the two...I feel quite comfortable. they each have major flaws
