Obama threatens to keep congress in Washington thru Christmas over payroll tax cut
President Obama says no Christmas vacation for Congress if Republicans can't get their act together on extending the payroll tax cut:

President Barack Obama threatened Friday to keep Congress in Washington through Christmas to pass legislation extending payroll tax cuts.
“We need to get this done,” Obama said during an event on building efficiency just blocks from the White House. “I expect it’s going to get done before Congress leaves otherwise Congress may not be leaving. We can all spend Christmas here together.”

Obama criticized Senate Republicans for voting Thursday against proposals to extend the current payroll tax cut, calling it an “unacceptable” vote that would raise taxes “on 160 million hardworking Americans because they didn’t want to ask a few hundred thousand of the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share to get the economy growing faster.”

3. Except that will probably be very similar to the actual response
"Well, just because he doesn't feel it is an important day..."

Guarantee it gets pulled into the "War on Christmas (TM)" if the media begins playing it up.

4. Oh god! Please tell me that he can have them arrested if they refuse
to convene under Presidential order! Please, oh please!

Seeing Boehner in handcuffs... make this happen!

Think about the spike in approval ratings!

Just in case anyone thinks that I'm pushing for an unConstitutional power grab by the Prezzie here's a relevant excerpt to read before flaming me:

Section 3 - State of the Union, Convening Congress

He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

6. If only
he had fought for single payer half as hard as he's willing to fight for the tax break that says funding Social Security is just not that important anymore.

11. maybe
Article 2, Section 3, Clause 2

Calling Congress into extraordinary session; adjourning Congress
The President may call extraordinary sessions of one or both Houses of Congress. If the two Houses cannot agree on a date for adjournment, the President may adjourn both Houses to such a time as he or she thinks fit. The last time this power was exercised was in 1948, when President Harry S. Truman called a special session of Congress. That was the twenty-seventh time in American history when a president convened such a session. Wikipedia

20. It won't work. All they have to do is have brief pro forma sessions and
there is nothing Obama could do about it. Most members could stay away.
