I have lost all sympathy for Mrs. Cain . . .
I really felt for her over the past couple of weeks and respected the way that she handled herself. But when she stepped out on that stage with him today and allowed herself to be a willing part of this charade, all of my sympathy and respect disappeared. She is complicit in his foolishness.

Good riddance to both of you . . .

2. I can't even imagine
Edited on Sat Dec-03-11 02:21 PM by hughee99
a woman who would stay with her man after being in a situation where her husband's infidelity so publicly humiliated her. And what kind of awful husband would subject his wife to such a thing?

5. Staying is one thing - people work out all kinds of difficulties in marriage
But allowing herself to be trotted out at his side in this way at this time is really bizarre.

8. I completely agree.
It's hard for me to understand how people can respect someone who would do this, and yet so many do.

12. who's to say she isn't in an abusive relationship...
when you are in one you often feel powerless to make your own decisions. Herman is the asshole- let's cut the lady a bit of slack.

24. And those people should have minded their damn business.
What goes on in a marriage is only understood by the two people in it.

23. Her marriage, her choice.
Ditto for Mrs. Cain.

Everybody should worry a little more about their own relationships and a little less about that of others. I could care less who's sleeping with whom as long as whatever is going on is between consenting adults. The problem with Cain is that several women have come out of the woodwork claiming sexual harassment, that's an entirely different ball game.

3. My guess: if he continued running, she would leave him
I doubt she would put up with this huge grandiose fantasy anymore
or the exposure to the campaign groupies.

6. Odd how the women stick out situations like this
seems to me like like the classic beaten wife syndrome.
Only the Mrs. Sanford the South Carolina governor Mrs. told hubby to take a hike.
But then it was her money to begin with.

7. Maybe she really loves him and believes in him - I can't
imagine why she would have stayed with him so long otherwise.

Until we're in a person's shoes, we really can't know why they do what they do.

9. I don't have a problem with her choice to stay with him
As I said, people make all kinds of choices in their marriages and none of them are any of my business.

But coming out with him in public in this way at this time - especially since she has rarely appeared with him in the past - is different. In so doing, she is endorsing him politically, and, as such, has put herself in a totally different position.

16. I don't care what people do
in their personal lives as long as it isn't illegal. What Cain did is now between him, his wife and all those women.

I didn't lose respect for Hillary because she stayed with Bill. It was their business.

My problem is with Cain and his endless victimhood. He wasn't qualified to be PResident; this nonsense was just a diversion from all the other things that were wrong with his candidacy.

19. Yes, it is.
What Cain has been accused of really isn't that different than what Clinton was accused of. Unless someone wants to press charges it's not going to go anywhere. He's out of the race and let the chips fall where they may.

Cain is a creep and was unfit for office for a whole lot of reasons.

18. I'm going to guess that she is being pragmatic ....
Here's how it works.

She's already told him ... "YOU ARE TOAST" ...

She could announce the divorce now and take him to the cleaners ... but why settle for what he has now, when you can get even MORE out of him down the road ... in say 6 months or so.

This way, he "suspends" his fake campaign, and yet he keeps "running" to promote himself and his book. Plus, he's proving to the folks at Fox that he has no morals of any kind and so he'd be perfect on their stations.

Gloria will move out, or he will simply not go home anymore.

And the deal she has made ... goes like this ...

"I'll stay quiet, and pretend to trust you ... but I get half of everything you have NOW, and then, I also get HALF of everything you ever make in the future ... via books, speaking, or if you get a Fox contract, or anything else you get. And, either you make this deal with me now, or I will go on every station I can, and admit that I had my suspicions, but that loved you too much to accept that fact that you are a scum bag ... thus killing your future book and speaking tours, and any chance of getting a Fox show."

She's going to get very rich off Herm. Or at least she should. And the fact that stupid right wingers will give him money makes it that much better.

21. She seems like one of those do whatever the husband
wants type of woman…ugh…scared and unsure of herself. Any woman with self respect would kick his ass out….

Hillary only put up with it because she wanted to be in politics herself and this lady no way….

22. Don't be too harsh on her. We don't know what kinds of pressure
or threats she is under.
Cain shows himself to be aggressive and intolerant as well as judgmental and disrespectful of women.
I doubt he honors and cherishes her.

25. She has had her head in the sand for years...I feel sorry for her.
What is her option: to admit that the whole of her marriage is a lie? That her dreams and future are not real? He is using and disrespecting her just like he does all of the women in his life. He is a pig.

I hope she gains the strength and courage to leave--and also gets a good divorce attorney.

26. Maybe she will be able to do what I was able to do once...
I was in a bad relationship one time. When we finally split, we were still stuck living together for two months until I could get a new place.

Over that two months, I got closure on a lot of issues that had bothered me for years. Basically read him the riot act over and over, and came to see clearly that my worst fears were true.

It was a great cleansing experience.

Unlike Mrs Cain, I didn't get any money out of the deal. Hope she does.

27. I stopped feeling badly for Hillary too.
I figured there was secondary gain, something else that the marriage provided her in which sexual fidelity was not a priority.
