"We should have known at Pokemon" and GOP candidates respond to the end of "black walnut"

Rachel Maddow (November 4; edited to add video)

...We should have known at Pokemon. We should have known.

<...>

It is one thing to be a gaffe-prone inexperienced candidate, but the gaffes are too perfect. Black walnut, noted for its staying power, it doesn`t exist anymore. The book chapter on the magic number, the 9-9-9 thing from the video game. The great poet, Pokemon -- Pokemon? Really, a Pokemon movie, really?

This was Pokemon all over again. Pokemon, black walnut, Ubecky, becky, becky, stan, stan, one page almost every day, the magic number 45, the Sim City tax plan -- this is about politics but this is not politics.

This is art about politics. This is an art project. This is a satirical candidacy.

GOP candidates respond to Herman "Koch" Cain's campaign (or the Cainwreck):

Rick Perry Thanks Herman Cain For Talking About Taxes

<...>

“I know this was a difficult decision for Herman Cain, his family and his supporters. He helped invigorate conservative voters and our nation with a discussion of major tax reform. Anita and I wish him and his entire family all the best.”

Michele Bachmann: Cain 'Generated Tremendous Enthusiasm'

<...>

“Herman Cain provided an important voice to this process. His ideas and energy generated tremendous enthusiasm for the conservative movement at a time it was so desperately needed to restore confidence in our country. I wish Herman, his wife Gloria, and his family all the best.”

Jon Huntsman Praises Cain For Bringing 999 To America

<...>

“Herman Cain offered a unique and valuable voice to the debate over how to reform our country’s uncompetitive tax code and turn around the economy. I understand his decision and wish him and his family the best.”

Gingrich: I'm Proud To Know Herman Cain

<...>

I am proud to know Herman Cain and consider him a friend and I know he will continue to be a powerful voice for years to come.

2. Gary Johnson:
Gary Johnson: Cain 'Will Remain A Significant Voice'

<...>

“I have no doubt Herman Cain will remain a significant voice in the dialogue about the many important issues we face. His rejection of business-as-usual in Washington has been a valuable part of this campaign, and clearly resonates with a great many Americans. I wish him the best.”
