Per MSNBC: Obama to Speak on Tax Cuts at 1:30pm
He'll talk about passing the payroll tax cuts and urge Republicans to make sure taxes don't go up on the middle class.

1. Blah...Blah...Blah...
More political posturing. NOTHING will get done, and anything that does, will be watered down, and will not include any tax increases on the wealthy.

It's all a bunch of BS, and if you honestly think either side gives 2 bleeps about us, you're mistaken.

23. I'm A Democrat, Not A Sheep
It's taken me 45 years to realize that it's all a big game, and very few of us have a chance at winning.

I would NEVER EVER EVER vote for a repub, but does that mean I Must support and stand behind someone who says one thing, then does another?

I backed up Mr. Obama in the past, because he espoused ideas and positions that I believed in. He said that the * tax cuts for the wealthy would not be allowed to stand, and then they stood. He said that the feds were not going to go after law abiding dispensaries in states where medical marijuana has been legalized, but every day I read about more raids by the feds on dispensaries in my state of California.

It's all a big shell game, and all they want from us is our loyalty, money, and vote. Once they achieve that, the game changes, and they can spend their time in office, kissing up to the people who matter the most to them. Sure, they'll give you a wink and a smile, then go about their merry way.

We're pretty much in for 11 months of posturing. Lots of they said, they said, and no agreement. Many promises about how when THEY are in power, things will be different. They won't.

The day our government puts the interests of the majority of Americans first, will be the day I believe that politics is a game worth being part of. I supported Obama, and was not a fan of Hilary. But now that I feel I've been conned, it's going to be difficult to muster any enthusiasm about next November. Heads we lose, Tails we lose even more. And on to the next...

24. Disagree With Prez = Repub = Get Lost
Since when did one person, or even one party, define someone's beliefs? I believe in Democratic policies. It think the majority of repub policies are complete BS. I think all the repub candidates put together have less intellect than Mr. Obama has all by himself.

But in no way should that mean I have to believe he has my best interests at heart, or that I shouldn't think he says one thing, then does another.

If I wanted to walk in lock step, and believe faithfully in whatever I hear or read, then I would be a repub, and spend my time watching Faux news, not Keith Olbermann.

6. 'GOP spokesman' Luke Russert repeats Republicans' lie that surtax would be a 'tax on job creators'
and, he added, 'millionaires.' This is utter nonsense, but don't expect the media to point that out. That's how the Republicans succeed in representing the 1%, and not the 99%. It would not work if we had a media who was worth a damn, and did their jobs--but we don't--with rare exceptions. Luke Russert is certainly not one of them!

10. R's tweeted him that Obama designed this payroll tax bill to fail knowing they won't raise taxes--
Edited on Mon Dec-05-11 02:06 PM by flpoljunkie
which he dutifully read to MSNBC's Savannah Guthrie. Of course, the only taxes raised here would be a surtax, reportedly less than 2% now--on income over $1,000,000.

12. Whenever he goes on Martin Bashir's show, Martin calls him out when he starts
repeating RW talking points! It's great to watch. He interrupts Luke and says things like, "Do you really believe that" or "Don't you mean the most wealthy among us?"

16. Same on CNN
The congressional correspondent was talking about the payroll tax plan before President Obama started his speech. She gave the line about "job creators" also. I noticed that CNN was allowing the Republicans to control the debate by using their terminology. She should have said the plan would be paid for by raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires.
