Many Americans are aware that George W. Bush has had the worst job creation record since the government began tracking these figures in 1939. But Bush's colossal failure to manage the economy overshadows a much larger story.



The record shows two unmistakable patterns:
Every time a Republican succeeds a Democrat in the White House, the job creation rate plummets.
Every time a Democrat succeeds a Republican in the White House, the job growth rate soars. Every time! No exceptions!

Considering the steady growth in population of the United States during this time frame the job creation rate should steadily increase each month (currently it must grow by 128,000 per month to keep up with population growth). This trend only manifests itself when examining Democratic administrations:

...then those people are going to feel like their point of view has been somewhat invalidated. Its hard for someone to admit that their way isn't the ONLY way forward if that person happens to be an overzealous ideolog, left or right. in other words:

you're deliberately missing the point. which is that improvement in a single index that stops counting people after 1 year of unemployment could indicate many things. The two most obvious are: 1) jobs really are being created and filled faster than they are being lost; 2) people are actually falling into the +1 year category of unemployment and no longer being counted.

without a robust dataset that includes other indices such as participation (the proportion of working age individuals that have a full-time job...arguably a better index to gauge the status of the workforce), this single data point is pretty useless. no hope or disappointment...just a number.

if you want to get all hopey and changey about such an obscure number, go ahead. but don't pretend people are crazy or bitter just for being smart enough to realize there are alternative hypotheses.

And that looks like what they are likely looking for as it doesn't list any experience requirements. That listing is not making your case.

And you are wrong. the BLS DOES release estimates on all of those things. The unemployment rate is just one number among many that the BLS compiles and releases. And that rate is based on a broad monthly survey of 60,000 random households.
