The Occupy Essay is out
http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/120904

I had to do some corrections, for the file to work...

Anyway, it has a short history of the movement, going to early planning stages, as well as the connections to Wisconsin and the Arab Spring and the rest of it.

Chapter Two concentrates on the political agenda and how it works.

Chapter Three is all about the State and Elite response...

It also has the Declaration of the General Assembly and a suggested reading list.

Suffice it to say, I expect to have to revise and grow this in three to six months, since this is truly a moving target and a fast moving target.

I could have waited for the next port action, or Occupy Congress (On the 17) or hells bells, my city council this Wednesday... but there has to be a point where you go, here, go for it... and add a good source to the discussion.

Realize a lot of it is LOCALLY BASED... but some themes are quite national.

Oh and the price was the lowest for distro to NOOK from Smashwords...

1. Recommended.
Without reading it first, I know your work and am confident that it's quality stuff.

2. It is just some of the formating that
has given me all kinds of headaches. I previewed the first version of the file on the kindle and nook and pdf and it was all kind of giberish. Now they look fine.

3. Occupy political agenda
So I just saw a youtube.com clip with a couple of smart lawyers talking about corporate personhood. I think the occupy movement is suffering from a lack of a political agenda (which I understand is kind of the point) but I think the energy of this movement would be best used to encourage Congress to pass a resolution declaring that corporations are not people. The more they are allowed to use 14th Amendment and 5th Amendment rights, the more they will be empowered to take advantage of us and get away with their crimes.

4. And yuo are so wrong as to them not having one
Edited on Mon Jan-09-12 01:55 PM by nadinbrzezinski
it is not even funny.

Personhood is like number one item in all occupations.

In fact Wednesday I will confirm where they are going regarding THAT PARTICULAR ITEM and a California Initiative They were considering joining the signature gathering process.

Yes I got an excuse, occu-flu... so I have not been doing the downtown shtick unless I am there as press.

5. So hit your local GA and tell them that!
I get so tired of people complaining about what Occupy should be doing, but they don't go out to their local Occupy and try to get their "demands" on the agenda.

If you think Occupy should be doing something different, for gawds sakes get out there in the streets with them and tell them. They sure aren't going to listen to a random opinion off a message board. They are too busy.
