If so then everything sucks and it's Obama's fault and Obama didn't save Bambi so I wont vote for him in 2010

3. The Corporate Republicans are secretklty thrilled. Rank and file and Libertarians not so much.

Ignore the Brer Rabbit "please don;t throw us into the briar patch" objects of Congressional Republicans.

This fits right in with the agenda of Corporate Conservatism, which is to enshrine "private markets" as the sole source of everything, and shrink and deliberately bankrupt the government.

This bill is totally in line with that by enforcing the lock that private insurance has over our system of healthcare.

And it is a blessing for them because it is so outrageous that even the Republicans would never have had the balls to do something as outrageous as mandating people to buy a private product.

So the Democrats do the dirty work, whole the Republicans get to cry about "Democrat Socialism" even as it advances the Conservative Corporate ideology.

The Democrats are shooting themselves in nthe foot with this bill, and the GOP is handing them the bullets.

Republican politicians atre repugnant -- but they're a hell of a lot smarter when it comes to getting what they want politically.

They only reason they lost power the last few years is because 1)They got greedy and it became too obvious tom the public and 2)The destructive results of right-wing corporate economics became so obvious that even Karl Rove could not put an accepotable spin on them.

The problem now is that Democrats are about to pass a bill that contains the worst aspects of Corporate Conservative Socialism, while the Republicans get to use it to push their phony "conservative" populism against those "big government democrats" when in reality the democratic bikll is based on the same principles that the GOP agenda is based on.

The fact is they realize that the HCR bill is a "slippery slope", because it will improve, as Medicare and Social Security have, and most likely lead to a much faster path to single payer or a public option, then if it didn't pass, even with all its short comings. That is why all the liberal Senators voted for it

Yes, the republicans are going to say it will kill grandma, it will cost the taxpayers tremendous amounts of money, though the CBO disagrees with that, and other misrepresentations

They of course will not tell you they never had a HCR bill themseleves, did not want to be part of it, and in fact wanted it to fail

I believe eventually this will be the path to single-payer

This bill is great for the health insurance industry. THAT'S all they (and many of the Dems) care about. They LOVE this bill.

...especially because when people realize how bad it is, they can say "We TRIED to stop it!".

I believe the bill will be amended before 2012, and we will either have a public option or single payer by in because of this HCR act

7. Except the only part of it that COULD lead to single payer -

the public option - is NOT in the bill.

I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt if it retained even a vestige of a public option or open enrollment of Medicare - but this has, at this point, neither.

I would happily trade EVERYTHING that is in this bill for just a public option.
