Toward increased civility.
Have you considered amending the rules to ban ALL name calling?

I think sometimes allowing pejorative nicknames for politicians and media personalities contributes to a hostile climate.

It's very easy for users to transfer that hostility to one another.

It's rather juvenile, too.

Keith suspended "Worst Person in the World" in the interests of improving the discourse. Perhaps DU should consider a similar gesture and I think banning pejorative nicknames might be a good way to start.

But I think we are going to continue to allow such attacks on our Republican opponents.

Having said that, we have some other ideas for improving the quality of discourse between DU members that I won't go into here, but we will probably talk about soon.
