Just wonderin' ...
I am wondering if the Admins/Mods ever peruse the DU Journals of posters who are consistently alerted on.

I ask because there are some posters (no names) who invariably post negative, anti-Dem/anti-Obama “news” items they find on the internetz – many of which come from questionable and/or rather obscure sources, and/or known right-wing authors.

It would seem that any DU member who posts nothing but negative items – to the complete exclusion of even a single positive comment – are operating within an agenda far outside the stated purpose of DemocraticUnderground. And their history of doing so, by virtue of their Journal entries, is there for all to see.

Like I said, just wonderin’ …

1. We have access to every poster's full history of behavior on DU.
And we use it to inform our understanding of each member.

2. Thanks for the reply, Skinner!
I'd always assumed that was the case.

Except that it begs the question as to why members who post nothing but anti-Dem OPs are permitted to continue to do so - which a lot of us find rather odd given DU's own rules about being "generally supportive of the Party", encouraging "constructive criticism" only, et cetera.

I admit to being somewhat confused about all of that - but it's your call, not mine. And perhaps I should have been more specific in my question.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Your answer was quite to-the-point, and confirms what a lot of us have assumed to be the situation for a while now. :hi:

3. I think you need to understand...
...that President Obama and Democrats are not universally loved by progressives right now. Democratic Underground does not exist in a vacuum. This place is going to reflect the attitudes of progressives expressed in the real world. Once everyone on DU learns to accept that fact, we will all feel much happier.

That is not to say that we don't have our limits.

But you don't have to wait for us to ban someone. You can take matters into your own hands by using our ignore function. Our ignore function gives you the power to just hide a person's threads, if that's what you find most distasteful.

4. I see now that I was not precise enough ...
... in my question, as you have clearly misunderstood - the fault of the writer, not the reader.

I was not talking about people who express their own opinions - negative or otherwise.

I was speaking about those members (and admittedly, they are very small faction here) whose every single OP is a cut-and-paste from a negative op-ed, article, news item, etc. often originally sourced (if one follows the chain of links) from RW publications.

In many cases, these excerpts are posted without comment by the OP, one way or the other - and the OP is often a post-and-run, meaning the original poster does not respond to queries nor participate in discussion of their own thread.

It strikes me that this is just a way to get anti-Dem messages "out there" on a Democratic message board.

5. If you think someone is a conservative disruptor, click alert and let the moderators know.
And then feel free to use our ignore function, which will make that person disappear, almost as if they were banned.
