On deleted posts.

The mods recently deleted a response to a post I made. I respect the mods enforcement of DU's rules, but I think that the person who is being responded to should be able to view the post. In this case, I did not see the response prior to the mods scrubbing it. I understand that removing the post promotes civility and all that, and I am OK with not being permitted to defend myself for the greater good of the site and all that, but it seems unfair that I am not even privy to the content of the offending post, while others who may have followed the thread in a more timely manner know what it said. Even if the poster's identity is removed to lessen the chance of a vendetta, could the content not be pm'd to the ostensibly offended party, in the aim of fairness to all concerned?

1. I don't think this is such a good idea.

The point of removing posts is to minimize the damage they might do.

But it kind of feels like people are talking behind your back. I'd rather be in on the joke, even if I don't know who the jokester is.:shrug:
