as I once was, but I still lurk and occasionally comment, or rec. With due respect, however, I can't contribute to this fund drive because it's so painful for me to see the "gruesome images" ad almost every time and everywhere I click on DU. I know this is a losing battle, as I have posted about it before, but just wanted to register again my distress. And again, it's precisely because I am a vegetarian and lover of animals, and because I couldn't be more sympathetic to the cause represented by these horrendous ads, that they disturb me to such extent.

So many have helped with the suggestion that I can block the images, but my particular computer set-up makes that difficult.

You already know this, but for the benefit of other people reading this post I would like to point out that the ad is from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), who promote vegetarianism and share your love of animals. We generally accept ads promoting causes of interest to our members.
