Greta Van Susteren to kick off inauguration of Florida's governor, Rick Scott.
Seems to me that will tie the $2.5 million dollar inauguration to Fox News, a very strange thing to do IMO.

But then with Rick Scott anything could happen. He does not seem to have a sense of what is proper.

From The Florida Independent:

Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren to kick off Scott’s $2.5 million inauguration

Fox News anchor and celebrity attorney Greta Van Susteren has been tapped to deliver the keynote speech at Gov.-elect Rick Scott’s inaugural Salute to Women event in Tallahassee next week.

The event, being held at Florida State University, is billed as nonpartisan and will also feature Jennifer Carroll, the state’s first African-American lieutenant governor, and Pam Bondi, Florida’s first female attorney general and a regular Fox News contributor.

The event will kick off a dozen events planned by Scott’s inaugural committee for Jan. 3 and 4, which are slated to cost upwards of $2.5 million — less than half the amount outgoing Gov. Charlie Crist had planned to spend in 2006 before scrapping the festivities altogether.

“Upon reflection, it doesn’t feel right to me when there are people having trouble paying their insurance bills and making ends meet,” Crist told the St. Petersburg Times in 2006. “When I was a child, my grandfather told me every pencil has an eraser for a reason. It’s a good lesson. I’m not perfect.”

Sounds pretty partisan in nature to me. Pam Bondi is the state's most photogenic Mama Grizzly.

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/6861"> Two Momma Grizzlies...Bondi and Palin

Rick Scott spent millions of his own money to run nasty attack ads against Democratic candidate Alex Sink during the primary.

But even before that he spent millions to sabotage the town halls of Democrats who wanted to get the word out to their constituents about health care last year. Those town hall riots were at his expense.

Mastermind and funder of the town hall riots is now Florida's governor.

If you’re wondering who is primarily responsible for organizing the barbaric efforts to sabotage the Democratic town halls across the nation, wonder no longer. The man’s name is Rick Scott, and he is in charge of the Web site Conservatives For Patients Rights. He is a multimillionaire ex-hospital CEO whose company was charged with the largest case of financial fraud committed against the government in United States history.

Yes, I posted that reminder before about the town hall riots, and I will probably do it again. We should not forget the ugliness of those planned, deliberate, well funded disruptions.

The fact that he is now our governor says that Florida's voters are not informed...or worse.

2. So why again is Foxnews allowed to be called a news organization?
Where are the politicians over at CNN that run or have ruin the country? ABC/NBC/CBS have their own too? Fox should be forced to become a PAC.

5. Fox is propaganda, not news.
I agree. None of the networks are very impressive in presenting truth, but Fox doesn't even try.

23. Political propaganda should be labeled for what it is.
I think Fox Entertainment suits them like ABC/Disney works out in their strange view of the universe.

4. Speaking of women in leadership...Greta defends Palin's intelligence...
and goes after Juan Williams who questions whether she is on the same level of intelligence as Obama.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/28/greta-van-susteren-williams-palin_n_801937.html

"Greta Van Susteren took to her blog to question whether Juan Williams could back up his claim that Sarah Palin is not on the same "intellectual stage" as President Obama.

Williams made the comment when he was on a "Fox News Sunday" panel this past weekend. His statement was widely circulated on the Internet.

Writing on Monday, Van Susteren asked, "has Juan interviewed either so as to have any knowledge about which he speaks? or is he just talking? Knowing if he interviewed (first hand knowledge) either and to what depth can help guide you as to whether you should credit his opinion or not. (Incidentally, I don't know if he has....maybe he has.)"

Now, come on. All one has to do is hear either of them speak.

6. The Foxocrats are something else.
I love how they cover the right-wing's fetishes and fevered dream issues, and act as though it's "pure objective reporting." No such thing exists. They could also cover rape by US soldiers in Iraq, unsafe workplace conditions, police brutality, etc., but they do not, because they know what they want to generate in advance. That's fine, but why pretend that news is something other than propaganda?

8. K&R #3 Is he her latest love object?!1 There was Brett FAVRE, and
I suspect that her sniffing after Quitter has more to do with Tawd. It was a year or two ago that she did multiple hours of "interviews" with FAVRE, gazing to the depths of (?). Now that we've seen the pictures, perhaps we know what she was gazing at.

What's her angle with this Florida Rethug? To think she used to trade on being sorta "moderate".

10. Looks like Greta's very close to Bondi. Bondi downplays Fox News appearances.
http://floridaindependent.com/11126/bondi-de-emphasizing-her-work-for-fox-news-in-general-election-run

"In her upset victory in the Republican primary for attorney general, Pam Bondi leaned on her exposure as a Fox News legal analyst and the star power of a Sarah Palin endorsement.

On the primary campaign trail, Bondi told Republican crowds of her appearances on Fox News’ highly rated shows with Sean Hannity and others. And in a political climate in which being an “outsider” is en vogue, she touted her nearly two decades as a prosecutor in Tampa as experience setting her apart from the entrenched politicians opposing her.

It worked. Bondi soundly defeated Republican political stalwarts Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp and former Florida House Rep. Holly Benson.

Now the question is whether her continued exposure on Fox News and an endorsement from Palin can carry Bondi in the general election."

Seems like a Fox News victory over all for Florida. That's media power.

11. Murdoch can't hold the office himself, so....
He plants his people in office where he can. He is looking to get Huckaboo nominated in 2012.

Ten years ago, it would have been a joke that a foreign media mogul would make a serious effort
at ruling the USA. Robert Ludlum's "Matarese Circle" come to life. Ludlum was more prescient than
he thought.

12. Which reminds me...
I have not read Ludlum in years. Maybe time again.

Yes, Fox has played its role in the dumbing down of the electorate...you reminded me of this article from 2004 about Murdoch.

http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2004/07/b122948.html

It's a great article...just 3 paragraphs from it.

"In recent years, Australian-born billionaire Rupert Murdoch has used the U.S. government's increasingly lax media regulations to consolidate his hold over the media and wider political debate in America. Consider Murdoch's empire: According to Businessweek, "his satellites deliver TV programs in five continents, all but dominating Britain, Italy, and wide swaths of Asia and the Middle East. He publishes 175 newspapers, including the New York Post and The Times of London. In the U.S., he owns the Twentieth Century Fox Studio, Fox Network, and 35 TV stations that reach more than 40% of the country...His cable channels include fast-growing Fox News, and 19 regional sports channels. In all, as many as one in five American homes at any given time will be tuned into a show News Corp. either produced or delivered." But who is the real Rupert Murdoch? As this report shows, he is a far-right partisan who has used his empire explicitly to pull American political debate to the right. He is also an enabler of the oppressive tactics employed by dictatorial regimes, and a man who admits to having hidden money in tax havens. In short, there more to Rupert Murdoch than meets the eye.

In 2003, Rupert Murdoch told a congressional panel that his use of "political influence in our newspapers or television" is "nonsense." But a close look at the record shows Murdoch has imparted his far-right agenda throughout his media empire.

MURDOCH THE WAR MONGER: Just after the Iraq invasion, the New York Times reported, "The war has illuminated anew the exceptional power in the hands of Murdoch, 72, the chairman of News Corp… In the last several months, the editorial policies of almost all his English-language news organizations have hewn very closely to Murdoch's own stridently hawkish political views, making his voice among the loudest in the Anglophone world in the international debate over the American-led war with Iraq." The Guardian reported before the war Murdoch gave "his full backing to war, praising George Bush as acting 'morally' and 'correctly' and describing Tony Blair as 'full of guts'" for his support of the war. Murdoch said just before the war, "We can't back down now – I think Bush is acting very morally, very correctly."

And like all viruses it's attached itself and it's grown and grown - and now it's infecting our government. We have to stop it before it's too late.

Just the thought of Prick Scott as Governor is enough to gag-a-maggot.

Add in Greta Van Cistern and Faux news... and it induces the gag reflex.
