Chris Christie commits political suicide

Friday, December 31, 2010

By Paul Mulshine/The Star Ledger

Gov. Chris Christie in Freehold Friday: His body was in Monmouth County but his mind must still be in Disney World.

Chris Christie's not kidding when he says he'd like to spend more time with his family.

Obviously being governor is taking too much of his time.

That would be the only possible explanation for the bizarre remarks he made in Freehold Friday.

Yup. Didn't take long for his arrogance to bring him down.

2. You didn't just bury the lede, you left it out altogether.
Why excerpt the opening tease from the article and not give any indication of what the remarks were?

4. Yeah, I'll wait until somebody includes it in their OP. My internet connection
is iffy and it's always hit-or-miss if clicking a link will fuck me up.

8. He slammed local mayors for expending resources on UNPLOWED
state roads while "ignoring" local roads. While he was in Florida and his Lt Gov in Mexico.

Mayors took care of the busiest roads in their districts and this prick blamed them for the state's failure to get everyone dug out - and then had the cojones to request Federal help.

11. I sent it to Ed Schultz
and ask Big Eddy to have this guy on his radio and MSNBC shows. I also asked Ed to have Gov. Brian Schweitzer of Montana on his show to counter arrogant Republicans like Christie. Schweitzer knows how to needle Republicans like Christie with humor.

13. Mulshine is the Ledger's house conservative.
But he's never had a kind word for Christie, whom he considers a closet liberal.

The Christie/blizzard story has focused on the Disney vacation and the fact that the Lt. Governor, Kim Gaudagno (the first occupant of a newly created office) was also on vacation (in Mexico) at the time. More to the point, the blizzard follows hard on the heels of Christie's cut in aid to municipalities. Much of the chaos was the result of subsequent layoffs and reduced public works and snow removal budgets.

Article on the cuts here: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-20/christie-cuts-to-local-aid-make-new-jersey-towns-lead-u-s-bond-downgrades.html

Other stories related to the budget cuts are massive police layoffs and library closings. So far.

21. Uh oh. Another incompetent who refuses accountability.
When it became obvious the storm was getting worse, he told the media (!), his wife told him not to even think of canceling the family trip.

That's how he handles his state's crisis: wife's/kid's pleasure over state responsibility.

And he blamed mayors for putting state roads before their local roads in clearing the roads!
