Don't jump on me, but from a political perspective, I have a question...
Why is Obama making an official statement tonight?

Shouldn't he wait until Monday when more people are paying attention? It's Sunday 11:00 PM on the East Coast right now, and a lot of people are probably asleep right now. Doesn't the Administration want as many Americans as possible to hear this from the President's own mouth?

...or am I a bad, ugly, cynical person for wondering this? :evilfrown:

16. Right.
They'll "wake up" to it, see/hear it as they're getting ready for work/school and then listen on the way into work/school. It will be on the lips of everyone they meet for the same reasons :)

My question is, does this lock in a second term for the President? :D

2. Because he can. Because we've all waited a decade for this. Because 3000 people
merely going about their lives one day fell from buildings, were incinerated and crucified by a bunch of bastards with no heart for the children who suffered.

Well done Mr. President. Well done Mrs. Clinton cuz' I'm sure she had a hand in it too.

Hell, they convinced the press to not say anything until after 10:30 ET. Unfortunately, the WH is running late, and they ran with it without him.

12. He's got to get word out as soon as possible and get the credit so people see that he did this.
By tomorrow the repubs would have time to spin this to their advantage.

20. Well, it took up the entire front page of my morning paper - perhaps that's why.
I mean the whole fucking front page. And damn near all of the back page, too. The weather and a standing ad for The Whitaker Center were the only other things on the back.

It also took all of page two and a few other parts of the main section.
