2. Probably best...builds an audience...
How many people would have tuned in if they didn't know bin Laden was dead?

4. They would never ever let that happen
If they couldn't keep a lid on the fact that Superman is going to give up his citizenship, they're not going to keep this bomb under raps.

5. Maybe he should have taken the podium at 10:30 like he asked.
Instead of making the networks fill dead air for 40+minutes.

8. Its not just the media. - its the WH insiders who want to be "important".
Also, other members of the Executive Branch who can't keep their mouths shut.

9. The news media's job is to report.
Not to help the government stage-manage things.

13. When the media gets a story and then confirms it, they ought to report it.
We had a compliant media when bush was in power. You might recall that. It was monumentally unhelpful.

16. Holding a huge story for 45 minutes
At the request of the White House doesn't compromise journalistic integrity.

21. Actually, it does.
How much coziness do we tolerate? 45 minutes? 45 days? Was it all okay when bush was in power and the media lied to us?

The answer is: we ought not tolerate any coziness with the white house.

Always seems to work this way. I'm thinking the WH leaked it to lead up to the speech, to draw more attention.
