7. Let's give Bush the credit he's due:

(without even getting into the 2000 (s)election):

1) Choosing advisors who derided the Clinton Administration as "obsessed with Bin Laden";

2) Spending his first few months in office reducing the priority of counter-terrorism, reducing the resources and personnel working to uncover and prevent plots, effectively reducing our ability to have prevented the 911 attacks;

3) failure to devote resources to pursuing al-Queda in Afghanistan (and thus allowing OBL to escape Tora Bora) so he could have his neoconservative joyride in Iraq;

4) extending the influence of radicals by launching Operation al-Queda Recruiting Drive in Iraq.

5) creating undependable intelligence by abandoning proven-effective intelligence gathering techniques and using torture instead.

6) In his congratulatory message after being told of OBL's death, lauding the very intelligence personnel he smeared by claiming the Iraq invasion was based on "bad intelligence".
