Gen. Stanley McChrystal, speaking Monday in Colorado Springs, praised the courage of all involved in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, including the decision makers who ordered the operation in northern Pakistan that resulted in terrorist leader’s death.
“It took courage on the part of the people on the mission and extraordinary courage on the part of the decision makers. When we look at courage, we have to look at the courage on the part of all involved,” said McChrystal, who was removed last summer as U.S. commander in Afghanistan after he was quoted in a magazine story being critical of the administration.
“Think of what would have happened if the mission had not been successful, and all of the second-guessing that would have happened” McChrystal said. “This mission sends a message about our will to stand up for what is right.”
