I never realized that 9/11 was just beneath the surface of my mind.
I always prided myself on being able to put 9/11 behind me and live a life that included overseas travel without looking over my shoulder every other minute. although I saw the WTC wreckage a month later (long story, I bought a ticket to NY in 08/01), I was not there to witness the event first-hand. However, when news broke last night that OBL had been killed in Pakistan, I reacted with the same jubilation as the rest of the country. And today, I feel like a massive cloud has been lifted. Terrorism as a means to intimidate will never stop and I doubt we will leave Afghanistan any time soon (unfortunately), but I still cannot believe that for ten years, I carried 9/11 inside me. Maybe now we can all move on.

1. Interesting post. Thanks for it.
I don't feel much of anything. I do believe he got what he deserved, but I just don't feel a personal investment anymore.

2. I don't feel any different, but I am glad so many are finding a little bit of peace.
Take it where you can.

3. Me too. It is an ending to that really bad day that started 10 yrs ago. Nothing may change,
but it is an ending of that.

We aren't safer. Terrorism is still the same. There may be less funding of alQaeda with the figurehead arab gone, Obama may be more easily re-elected. But still, when I heard it was like watching the attacks happen again, and then end.

I had a really hard time accepting that I carried it inside me all those yrs also. Maybe we can move on.
