Before getting too revved up about OBL, let me say four words...
GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH

He "won" the first Iraqi war (even had a victory parade), and the following year went down to a stinging defeat. A week fromnow, voters will be back to worrying about jobs, the economy and the deficit. We need to be prepared to act on policy in the short term and campaign in the long-term as if our lives depend on it.

2. That was a limited engagement
lasting only a few months and there was significant anger about him not taking out Saddam Hussein at the time.

This is significantly different imo.

5. This is different. Iraq was never a big deal to most Americans.
9/11 wounded our souls... last night the wound began to heal.. and that wont be forgotten soon.. if ever.

6. Yes, Bin Laden's death won't mean a whole lot at the ballot box.
Clinton and Carville's axiom hasn't been disproven yet. It's still "the economy, stupid".

Americans have some really short memories.

13. I remember that.
"The Race to see who would lose to Bush." Every candidate was proudly proclaiming they would lose the best.

ran as well. Perot got 19% of the vote--that's pretty significant.
