People Here On The DU Who Say We Should Not Dance or Celebrate

....The biggest military/presidential success in many years should just think about what they are saying. I hate people who sympathize for the villain and only wish for political correctness to execute the punishment.... I say to you F%CK OSAMA...F#CK Your feelings on how his judgement was carried out brilliantly by President Obama.

Trust me OSAMA did not care about our feelings nor did he care about how the nearly 3000 people who died in 95 minutes time on a Set 11th morning not so long ago.

Today I celebrated and danced in my heart...I gave thanks to God for President Obama and the Navy Seals success. I wore my 2008 Obama for President T-Shirt in public and told those who asked WHY..I also corrected those who tried to give Bush any of credit, I wore his campaign button, I found a yard sign and it is in the window of my car and it will stay there for the time being.

OSAMA destroyed many family's...he basically destroyed our economy and many industries...... I am glad he has been destroyed.

I have pitty on you if you are not joyful and thankful tonight....WAR SUCKS FACE IT!!

4. "I am tired and sick of war."
"I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell."
William Tecumseh Sherman

14. I have a family history book that tells of how he attended and spoke at a family reunion.
Our mothers had the same last name and I'm related to him through her.

Lincoln was a war criminal, as was Grant and Washington and ever other President and every other leader the world has ever had, including FDR.

Its very easy to look back on history and say o he was bad but you can not superimpose your moral code on people through out history. They did not look at things the same way you do now, and do to so just shows yourself to be a fool ignorant of history.

5. I have not been critical of the dancers.
I think it is a form of release of tension that was not healthy.

And I played this song a couple days ago for may day and Social Security, so would be hypocritical to say not ok to dance.

I think cheering for death is tasteless.

12. There is no joy in killing.
Celebrate all you want, don't expect everyone to feel as you do.

And I don't see why you care what anyone else thinks. If you think you are right, then do as you please. I feel no obligation to defend my disgust at the celebrations, the unseemly flag waving and dancing in the streets over this. I just am disgusted by it, which has nothing to do with OBL. It has to do with who WE are.

13. Nobody is sympathizing with bin Laden.
That's a really disgusting straw man argument.

You're entitled to your feelings about the event and so are other people.

What some people find distasteful is:

1.) treating a death (anyone's death) as an excuse for a pep rally. OBL was a mass murderer and a threat and he chose to die rather than be taken into custody. He caused a lot of tragedy and some people respond to that with solemn reflection rather than glee and flag-waving. Some people find gravedancing in poor taste and I think that's a legitimate reaction which does not imply sympathy for bin Laden.

2.) the immediate politicization of the event and the rush to give all the credit to Obama before any of the details are known. It's a little early for it all to be about "we rock/Republicans suck".

My first reaction in this instance is to look to the families and to listen to what they would like, instead of shoving a flag in the air shouting "USA!" or pulling out my political points calculator so I can lord it over all my Republican friends on Facebook.

I hope that this brings closure and peace for them and I would like to give them the space to process how they feel about it. I agreed with Obama's point that they have not been forgotten. I hope that can be true as much for the next bit of time and for the last ten years.

Some families will want to process through celebration and some through solemn contemplation. I say both are fine. Just respect others peoples' processes. Some families are Republican and probably don't need "Our guy got him not yours!" shoved in their face. That's the kind of thing that just deepens the divisions between us at a time when we finally have an excuse to be unified.

19. Martin Luther King may have believed differently
yes I felt like celebrating when I heard the news of Osama's death. I did not go out into the streets yelling and wabving a flag screaming "USA, USA". I felt a sense of relief that a very evil person is now gone and cannot plan the violent deaths of other innocent people in this world.

Violence breeds violence, hatred breeds more hatred..we have to try to end the cxycle of violence somehow. endless war is not doing it.
