Canada: Conservatives projected to form majority.
I just heard on the CBC that Harper will get his majority. You know what this means? Potentially, there will be no new election for FIVE YEARS and the fascists can do whatever they want. Our system looks pretty good to me right now.

1. The left split their votes. Right now I will stay with our system
even with it's flaws. We have a real chance at retaking the House next year and keeping the Senate in Democratic hands.

2. The two party system is NOT inherently flawed
(Not directing that subject title at anything you said, but just saying it in general). If you drive your car off the road, it's not the car's fault. Likewise, if you drive your party to the right (like modern dems), it's not the systems fault.

4. There are benefits and liabilities with both systems.
I will stay with the current system. It is sad to see the neo-cons get a majority with a mere 39% of the vote.

3. Is there a systemic reason for the existence of only two large parties in the USA?
