"Where are all the moderate Muslims?"
Those who are critical of Islam and decline to draw a distinction between fundamentalist and more mainstream varieties often ask this question. If Islam is so peaceful, why don't moderate Muslim leaders publicly denounce the religiously-inspired violence? Well, here is a story from MSNBC reporting on American moderate Muslim leaders doing just that.

4. True.
But then I as a non-Muslim won't be either. I'm not being critical to those who do, I just don't feel it.

9. Are you drawing a distinction between Catholic bishops and "Crazy Christians?"
Catholic bishops in '04 told people in effect that anyone voting for Kerry would be excommunicated. They continue to be complicit in the rape of children by priests. They oppose birth control, gay rights, the equality of women, the use of condoms to prevent AIDS and they continue to preach that abortion is somehow worse than all the real problems in the world. And in places where the influence of the church has the effect of law, people suffer tremendously as a result. Sure, they're not all that bad, but enough of them are to make it the norm.

What a crappy, bigoted, insincere question for them to ask.

I apologize it isn't to your point, but I can't help but think that the media likes to focus on the wackos of any religion.

16. Moderate Muslims have no need to apologize or speak out.
They know Bin Laden doesn't speak for them. We should know that too. The notion that moderate Muslims must beat their chests and apologize for an extremist is a ludicious one.
