I think Bin Laden's killing is a valid reason to end the war as we know it in Afghanistan and bring the troops home. Declare victory and go home. I think there is room to influence our congresspeople on this matter. Today we should take the time to contact our senators, representatives, and the presidents office. Say what's in your heart, and ask them to end the war. Don't pass up this opportunity to make your voice heard.

Use this website to locate and contact your congresspeople. "Long form" (haha) email is preferred. Give them something to read. http://www.congress.org/congressorg/directory/congdir.tt

Contact the president here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact

I will write something up and send it soon. I will post it later. :bounce:

2. That sure can't hurt. I've been working on some letters
to my reps, etc., too.

One caution, though: Don't write demands that can't be met. The war can't end overnight, and the process will consume some time. Keep that in mind as you put your thoughts on paper. Reasonable requests work better than impossible demands.

3. I will not ask for a pony.
But seriously. Ask for what you want. Let them know how you feel.

4. I didn't suggest that you would.
I'm sure your letters will make your point very well. So will mine. That's the idea: make your letters be read, not discarded.
