I came across a receipt from July of 2001. Over Fourth of July.
Receipt for gas in Abilene Texas.

Gas was $1.299 a gallon.

Gas today is pushing $4 per gallon.

Anyone have their wages triple in that time??

It probably has if you own one of the big oil companies............

1. Gas here was $1.59/gal on 9/11/01. The day the gouging began.

That was the reaction here to events in NY. Some stations raised their price to over $10.00/gal. Pictures were taken. The governor went on teevee and threatened them. There was no gas shortage, she said. (Sebelius)

Interesting that oil prices dropped yesterday.
