The Dumbest Deather Theory
Yes, the deathers. They're folks who contend that Osama bin Laden wasn't actually killed yesterday, that the whole thing is some kind of government hoax. (This is a good reason to release photographic evidence, however gruesome it may be, although photos can be Photoshopped anyway, so it might not matter.) Cindy Sheehan, the well-known Iraq War protester, says "you're stupid" if you believe that bin Laden is dead. She, like some commenters we've seen around the Internet, think the "alleged" ocean burial of bin Laden is merely a convenient excuse for not having to produce a body. Maybe, over time, she'll be convinced by bin Laden's failure to refute his demise with a new audiotape.

A different, and much dumber, conspiracy theory, is being promoted on the Alex Jones site InfoWars.com: Bin Laden is dead, but he's actually been dead for "nearly a decade."

A multitude of different inside sources both publicly and privately, including one individual who personally worked with Bin Laden at one time, told us directly that Osama’s dead corpse has been on ice for nearly a decade and that his “death” would only be announced at the most politically expedient time.

This makes perfect sense, except:
• There's no way George W. Bush would have declined to take credit for bin Laden's death, then just hand him over to a Democratic president to use as he pleases.
• Eighteen months before the next election is about the least "politically expedient time" Obama could have possibly unveiled the body.
• If Obama had been keeping bin Laden's body on ice all these years, it would be so he could eventually show it off to the public, not have it quietly dumped in the ocean, sight unseen.

Other than that though ...

1. Disagree with your premise that ...
..."There's no way George W. Bush would have declined to take credit for bin Laden's death."

Bin Laden was much more valuable to Bushy alive than dead.

2. I disagree. They manufactured other enemies at will and didn't need bin laden
to scare people.

4. No, he wasn't. A dead Bin Ladin would have been a boon
for the republicans. Especially if it came right before the 2008 elections.

22. Except near the end...
When they could have dragged OBL out of the freezer and had him "killed" and had that accomplishment linked to his questionable "pResidency" for all posterity, for ever and evermore.

It's what just about anybody with W's inflated ego would do.

would help Obama re-election if this were a lie and Osama televised he really wasn't dead. Come on!

8. I've reflected on a few things...
I used to believe that OBL was and has been dead for quite sometime, but after reading quite a bit on Pakistan's military and their willingness to protect various terrorist elements, is it any mystery as to why they would state the OBL died back in 2001?

It was a red herring to get the US to stop pursuing him.

So yeah, I think that OBL was killed Sunday (Saturday, our time?).

Either way, he's officially dead. That's enough for me.

But I was wrong, and I believe he was killed on Sunday. Without seeing actual video of Bin Laden for so many years. And unless you know the lingo, he could be saying anything in the past video's we saw. Still a "Truther" though. There ain't nothing gonna change that unless we have a through investigation by people who have nothing to gain by the out come.

When you've been lied to consistently for years, you don't expect to be told the truth. Like a person who's been battered - you flinch even where there is no hit coming.

18. The fact that governments could lie is not proof that government
is a lie. Belief that the government is inherently evil and never is truthful is the very same belief that the teabaggers hold.

20. Right,
but the fact that government HAS lied in the past suggests that government MAY lie in the future as that government deems it "necessary."

Four words: Jessica Lynch. Pat Tillman.

Our whole Mideast adventure has been fraught with outright falsehoods, wishful thinking, intentional misdirection and plain old bullshit. We need to see some proof here. The Bolivians paraded Che Guevara's corpse around ad nauseum, specifically to say to the doubters: Here he is. But we dumped Osama at sea, what, 1,000 miles from where we "got" him?

21. Exactly.
I, for one, think she's wrong, but I can very easily understand her disbelief.

As one who very honestly thought he was killed in Tora Bora, I was not easily swayed myself. Particularly with the quick disposal and no public reveal.

But I think she's wrong.

Then again, there's the nagging thought that maybe I WANT to be fooled.

35. Bush did not lie about Lynch or Tillman - that was the Army, the generals,
and those same generals serve under Obama as they did under Bush.

The simple fact is, the military is barely under civilian control. They will do what they will do, and Bush was all too willing to let them. Obama, a little less so, but look at who his top officers are.

With the military having a long history of lying to the people, to congress, to the President, why would anyone expect them to change just because there is a new president?

17. Reminds me of a Pancho Villa story:
a tourist in the 1930s in a small northern Mexican village saw a market stand with an array of human skulls. Thinking that it would make an interesting thing to have (likely being a former member of Skull & Bones Society), he asked the price. "Five-hundred pesos, senor." "What?" the tourist demanded, "why should an old skull be that expensive?" "Because it's the skull of Pancho Villa, senor." "Ok, then what about this little one?" "Four hundred pesos, senor." "Well whose is this that it's so expensive?" "Pancho Villa, senor." "What, you said that the big one was Pancho Villa?" "Yes, senor, but this one is Pancho Villa as a little boy."

Silly joke? Well, not nearly as silly as the stories told by the deathers.

25. Actually George Bush wanted Osama alive so he had
a bugaboo to scare us and incrementally take our rights from us so he and the Dick could do anything in their wars for profit. So even if he found out Osama was dead it would have been to his benefit to keep him alive in our minds. I believe now was the perfect time for President Obama to do so for the next election. People all around me who are not DUers are saying that he's da man and they are voting for him. These are people who usually vote for Republicans. I don't know about your last point, but a body kept in a freezer would look exactly like it had been kept in a freezer and not like it was killed recently, so it would make more sense to get rid of it before too many people see it. However, on the last point it remains for some of us to see the pictures and verify that he was killed recently.

Bin Ladin? Why not wait until about a month before the elections? Why would Bush/Cheney not go out with a bang a announce that Bin Ladin was dead right before he left office? Your conspiracy has a lot of cracks in it ( not that that ever matters).
