Police review car speed tracking system
Police review car speed tracking system

A police union ban on high-speed pursuits has been lifted after the West Australian police commissioner agreed to review the way car speeds are measured.

The union had told WA's 5800 police officers to suspend all high-speed pursuits in the wake of disciplinary action against an officer involved in a police chase in which a 15-year-old was killed.

The officer involved was disciplined after a police automatic vehicle locator showed he had breached police rules for high-speed pursuits.

The officer denies exceeding the 140km speed limit and running a red light.
