Raid questions

I was just talking to my right wing neighbor about the raid and he had a few questions that I couldn't answer. He wanted to know what technology was used for the real time viewing of the raid in the Situation room and what happened to the chopper they had to leave behind.

Does anyone know? I think he's ready to give Obama credit!

1. They blew up the chopper

Probably something involving satellites for the transmissions. Maybe it was Skype. :-)

2. Prolly just a helmet cam. And, they bombed the chopper that was left.

3. The raid was monitored by a Predator

for realtime video. Sat imagry was probably also used. The chopper was destroyed in place by the SEALS.

They probably had a combination of views - satellite views, Predator imaging, maybe a chopper hovering a few hundred feet up, and maybe even helmet-cams worn by the SEALS. Probably all with infrared or low-light capabilities, considering they did their raid in the middle of the night.

I read they used helmet cams and that the Pakistan Military took the chopper away.

6. First I heard of the Pakistanis taking the helicopter.

Every report I've heard says it was destroyed (blown up) in place to keep the Pakistanis from getting their hands on.

5. There's a press conference going on right this second about the raid with more...

...details. I don't think they covered the chopper though. They covered that bin Laden wasn't using anyone as a human shield, that in the room they found bin Laden and one other person, a woman, the woman rushed the troops and they shot her in the leg. Then they shot bin Laden. The press spokesman said bin Laden was "unarmed" but that he was "resisting" and was shot because of...because of that.
