On proof of death...Obama, don't fall into the trap of showing the
pictures or the video to the world. Call in the leaders of the House and the Senate and show them. Then ask them to confirm to the world that they have all seen the evidence. Then, be done with it.

4. I think most people could deal with it but if there is a chance it will
inflame, why do it? I would be happy enough if the leadership of my government confirmed this.

Puts us far above picking up a random westerner and sawing their head off with a dull blade and then releasing the video to the world.

6. I'm asking why not as well. I don't recommend airing it on the nightly news,
but to avail it on youtube or the WH web site where someone has to purposefully go to to see them, I think would be fine. Anyonewho doesn't want to see them just won't go looking.

16. Then Expand The Viewing To Leaders Outside The U.S. Government........
I tend to agree with the OP but would be willing to have a viewing of the pics by world leaders to verify. There is no way to prevent the MSM and cable news shows from displaying any pics - if they were only placed on YouTube or the internet. They would be picked up and shown all over. We're into the 3rd day of all OBL 24/7 now and any released pics would take it in to next week.

I still say the Donald Trump dodged a bullet because of OBL. If the Sunday mission didn't happen - we'd be watching the clips from the WHCD of Obama and Meyers humiliating the Donald. Trump should actually thank Obama for changing the subject.

Then, perhaps consider organizing an influential group of US-based Muslim religious leaders/clerics, (perhaps along with a few ecumenical religious leaders) to view not only the photos, but the video of the burial at sea to affirm that the body was not desecrated and handled (at least generally) within the tenets of Islam. Let them, as a group, release a statement.

11. Or call in various news agencies from around the
world, like the BBC and Al Jazeera and others to send a reporter each to view the pictures and videos. They can announce what they saw to the world. If they all have the same story, then I believe it's enough to satisfy the skeptics among us.

13. They should wait until people are howling for "proof! We want the proof!" and then give it to them
that way by being "forced" finally to show the pictures or some pictures, they cannot be accused of barbarically parading OBL's carcass around for sport, (the accusations would come from the very same people who will demand to see the photographic evidence before they drop their objections that the USG is not leveling with the world about "what really happened".)

It'll burn them up to have to assure their twisted followers that Obama's orders did, in fact, take out Osama.

20. No, the pictures will come out and the administration will release them.
End of story. I have no idea what world some of you live in or exactly what inescapable trap Obama will supposedly spring on himself by doing so. It isn't just this thread, there have more than a few others which have been the most absolutely feeble attempt to explain why the Obama administration should not release these to news media.

You don't have to look at them, nobody's gonna make you...I promise.

But if Germany, say, had done the same after their own investigation do you think the rest of the world would go "Oh, we'll take your word for it."

Which, by the way, is not what the Obama Administration is doing. Just some of you folks.

It's bizarre.

22. The only people demanding to see the photos won't ever be convinced they're real anyway
If the White House releases photos of dead Osama it will inflame the hatred against us in the world. If he doesn't release them he'll inflame the Tea party birthers who wouldn't believe they were real anyway.

How many times does Charlie Brown have to believe Lucy will hold the football for him before he gets it.

I think we should get it.

30. Ok, like Pastor Yosemite Sam and his Quoran burning sideshow.
But that would be like saying the assassination of Bin Laden is disrespectful of Islam.

Maybe it is, if disrespect of militant jihad is disrespect of Islam.

There it is, then. Not to show the photos is to fail to clarify what we condemn.

But it would need to be extended to other world leaders to make it stick.

This really is the best idea I've seen so far! Kudos!

That said, I don't know what Obama is up against... this will get interesting.

29. I don't think it matters either way, ultimately.
Those that don't want to believe it won't and those that we fear would use to incite violence against us, already have their fuel that has been working for them for decades.
The sick twisting of religion, tactics on their youth...
So show or not, I don't think it matters, but it WILL make some people feel better, so it has it's pluses.
If so gruesome, edit it, cover the holes with band aids with bunnies on them?
Otherwise fakes will continue and I saw that one bad one was shown to some in the M.E. on TV, already.
...again those that don't want to believe it, will call it a good photoshop even if they were there, when it happened, that's their stupidity/agenda, and I'll continue to keep an open mind.

34. They will release it. If they haven't already leaked it.
Whatever prohibitions they allegedly felt about the backlash abroad with the detainee torture photos were in a different time and place in their political calculations. There are calculations here, too-- to appease an American public and 2012 electorate. Torture photos at American hands OTOH-- and reminders of the crimes that have gone unprosecuted under both past and present administrations- would do nothing to enhance Democrats' self image any more than it would Republicans'.
