Obviously Panetta Didn't Get The Memo
About adding to the neo-con fodder. What was he thinking saying water boarding helped in the capture of Bin Laden. If they had the info they would've gotten him 8 years ago.

1. He didn't say that directly. And any info gotten via torture is not reliable. Ever.

2. Sorry But I Must Disagree
I heard him infer it was a part but that there were lots of other parts that went into the capture.

13. I heard the same thing. It was his interview with Brian Williams, just re-aired on MSNBC within
the last 5 minutes.

3. The nickname of the courier was gotten several years ago
and I'm guessing that was possibly due to "enhanced" interrogation techniques. Are we still using them?

Source: Huffington Post

"In a secret CIA prison in Eastern Europe years ago, al-Qaida's No. 3 leader, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, gave authorities the nicknames of several of bin Laden's couriers, four former U.S. intelligence officials said. Those names were among thousands of leads the CIA was pursuing.

One man became a particular interest for the agency when another detainee, Abu Faraj al-Libi, told interrogators that when he was promoted to succeed Mohammed as al-Qaida's operational leader he received the word through a courier. Only bin Laden would have given al-Libi that promotion, CIA officials believed."

9. As I Understood It
Those 'enhanced' said they never heard of him which made the CIA think twice.

11. My understanding is that K.S.M. only gave useful info AFTER the torture stopped

"K.S.M. was certainly knowledgeable. It would be surprising if he gave up nothing of value. But according to a former senior C.I.A. official, who read all the interrogation reports on K.S.M., “90 percent of it was total fucking bullshit.” A former Pentagon analyst adds: “K.S.M. produced no actionable intelligence. He was trying to tell us how stupid we were.”

5. Hahaha! "If they had the info they would've gotten him 8 years ago."
Are you serious?? There were ample opportunities to get OBL and idiot son dropped the ball. Some of it even seems intentional to me. Heard today the CIA? under dimson closed a special unit that had been together 10 years with their only mission being to capture OBL. He either didn't give a damn or ...? You tell me. But their intent certainly wasn't to get OBL after the initial hoopla.

14. The credit they're getting is that yes,
this man gave info after some form of torture, under bush's watch? Is that right?

They can have that 'credit'.
