WHO Warns of Enormous Burden of Chronic Disease
As most of you know,I am waiting "patiently" to hear if I am accepted into a graduate program to become a nurse practitioner. Looks like my plan for a free chronic disease clinic wasn't that far out after all.

LONDON (Reuters) Apr 27 - Chronic illnesses like cancer, heart disease and diabetes have reached global epidemic proportions and now cause more deaths than all other diseases combined, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday.

In its first worldwide report on so-called non-communicable diseases, or NCDs, the United Nations health body said the conditions caused more than half of all deaths in 2008 and pose a greater threat than infectious diseases such as malaria, HIV and tuberculosis (TB) -- even in many poorer countries.

...sadly,we have become one of them.

3. Yep, this is the flipside of modern medicine
Diseases that once upon a time would be borne with little or no care/diagnosis for decades until one day, the person just died, are now being diagnosed early and being treated for decades, and in the end many of these people are still dying from them , as well as from the side effects of the meds used to treat them...

It's a catch -22 , since one way or another, we all die from something, and some die young/others hang on for a very long time.

5. Just being Vit D deficient sucks (secondary hypoparathyroidism caused by kidney disease)
I'm taking Rx levels of resupplementation and still have painful "bonitis" (Futurama reference - what it's really doing is less funny). Most people don't get enough Vit D due to inside working conditions and sunscreen (but don't need an Rx).

The D3 form may be better than the prescription D2 form. Most experts agree it is....

7. I'm taking the one with the lowest risk for hypercalcemia - I have severe kidney disease
I'm very lucky; I have both good insurance and doctors who want to keep me alive :hi:
