if they don't want to go to Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and all those other states

that want to educate their kids????? This bullshit of "we can't afford to educate them but we can build jails out the ass" is the stupidest thing going

on in my lifetime, along with the wars, the lack of singlepayer healthcare, loss of employment, and the Florida legislature.

I'm ready, what can I do????

4. My niece was a young fulltime teacher in Florida

With a master's in education, she has taught at a high school in Florida for three years and was voted Teacher of the Year.

Well "Teacher of the Year" just got the axe. That's how they reward good teachers these days. She's so upset she wants to retool and go into something else. Can't blame her.

Balancing the budget on the backs of teachers. It's so cowardly and short-sighted.

seriously. There is nothing that's going well. My wife works for one of the largest benefit packagers in the business, they laid off folks last friday, along with others overseas.

There's no construction to speak of, jeez, look at the help wanted ads in the St. Pete Times or the Tampa Tribune, the barrel has been scraped. If you go to Craigslist, someone will phish your id.

I hope your niece makes it out of the abyss. I mean that.

well I hate to tell her how hard it might be to retool even at a young age. My SO and I seemed to spend the entire 80's retooling, or as he calls it, buying retreads. And even now, nothing is really very secure (a paycheck away...) I know how you feel. I hope construction improves :hug: but I know that's a hard road in FL after the crash.

As for my niece, you hate to lay all your bad premonitions on the young. I hope she can stay in teaching somehow--she's a natural, does it with ease and lots of love & devotion to the kids. Puts a lot of energy into it. But the public schools are being hammered in many states. Makes me so :mad:
