Rumors that Wikileaks will soon be spilling Bank of America’s secrets have been running rampant. Last week Wikileaks

Now, it seems that the bank has launched a laughable preemptive strike against the leak site by purchasing some hilarious domain names on behalf of CEO Brian Moynihan: BrianMoynihanBlows.com, BrianMoynihanSucks.com, BrianTMoynihanBlows.com, and BrianTMoynihanSucks.com. It also picked up the .net version of these names and some .orgs as well, reports

This is sometimes known as “defensive registration”, like when
http://domainnamewire.com/tag/defensive-domain-registration/">ConAgra bought up peanutbutterrecall.com during the peanut butter recall in 2007, and similar to

But both of those other cases present limited domain name variations, and they didn’t involve Wikileaks. Combine the Assange factor with Internet lulz and low-level cultural spite towards Bank of America (to say nothing of Wall Street), and snapping up even a fraction of the possible insults toward your executives seems a Sisyphean task.
If the bank is serious about this, now might be a good time for domain opportunists to do some squatting. May we suggest SkankOfAmerica.com, BrianMoynihanIsAFurry.net, or BrianMoynihanSubscribesToThePostmodernCritqueOfScience.org?
