Actor Pete Postlethwaite dies at 64

Oscar-nominated British actor Pete Postlethwaite, described by director Steven Spielberg as “probably the best actor in the world,” has died at age 64 after a long battle with cancer.

in the Sharpe's series. He was an amazing actor. I'm sorry he lost his battle.

He was a good, solid, down-to-earth actor.

6. Seems like he always made an impression on me in whatever film he was in.

"In the Name of the Father", "The Shipping News", "Usual Suspects", and "Last of the Mohicans" were personal movie favorites that he was in...coincidence? He was a gifted actor...he wasn't gifted with a lead actor's looks, but he had a face that oozed character. I was shocked to find out he was only 64...I figured he was 10 years older.

8. I first noticed he had chops

when he was cast opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in The Name of the Father and wasn't blown off the screen. Far from it, in fact. His performance was stellar.

From his his filmography, it looks like he stayed busy until the end. Good for him.

He was in Clash Of The Titans, Inception and The Town. His talents were in demand by all of the top film makers. He will be missed.
