IS 'DERANGED' STILL AN OPTION?....

By Steve Benen

Just a few month ago, shortly before the midterm elections, Rep. Darrel Issa (R-Calif.) told Rush Limbaugh he considers President Obama "one of the most corrupt presidents in modern times." Soon after, the Washington Post's Ruth Marcus noted, "If Issa believes this, he is deranged. If he doesn't and is saying it anyway, he is dangerous." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/10/26/AR2010102605215.html

A month later, pressed by ABC's George Stephanopoulos, Issa walked it back. http://blogs.abcnews.com/george/2010/11/rep-darrell-issa-obama-not-personally-corrupt.html#tp Yesterday, Issa returned to his original, deranged point, but broadened the scope. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/02/goper-calls-obama-administration-corrupt/

The incoming House Oversight and Government Reform chairman on Sunday tried to clarify his recent remarks to Rush Limbaugh where he called President Obama "one of the most corrupt presidents in modern times."

Rep. Darrell Issa said he meant to say the Obama administration instead of the president. Well, in that case, Issa seems entirely reasonable, right? How silly of me to think the right-wing Californian, perhaps best known as an alleged car thief http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/harrisburg_politics/Dems_to_Issa_Look_Whos_Talkin.html who lied about his military background, http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/06/from-the-archives----issa-snared-in-his-own-military-exaggeration.php might be less than sensible about his partisan hatred of the president.

Steve Benen is great to read.

ISSA is going to cause a big mess. I hope the 2010 voters are happy with their new Tax-Dollar-Waster.

4. No, This would leave him off the hook. He may be evil, but he is responsible for his actions.

Anyway, we have to stop comparing Republicans to people with disabilities. It is insulting to people with disabilities.

12. We can attack him for recklessly wasting taxpayer money
on bogus partisan witch hunts. The best form of defense is an offense, and this will be a huge waste over nothing.
