Looked like george the first was a shoo-in for 1992. After Desert Storm, he had an approval rating of something like 90%. He looked utterly invincible. And thanks to Bill Clinton and Ross Perot, he wound up a one-termer just one year later.
Don't let any of it go to your head. If they get close enough to steal it, they will. GUARANTEED. I'm bracing for a "sudden mysterious 'find' of 7,000 votes that nobody realized was there before,' that throws it to the bad guy... May be several of those, scattered around the country. They're gonna keep us busy and going absolutely nuts, just trying to keep track.
Granted we have wall-to-wall ding-dongs on the GOP side, and every last one of them has VERY public feet of clay, plus the paul ryan poison-pill "budget", AND there's the teabagger contingent that will be spoilers all over the country. That's why that Democratic candidate in the very red 26th District of New York is looking so good. The teabagger in the race too has cut 20 percentage points away from her republi-CON opponent, who should otherwise have run away with it. NEVER MIND! Don't count your victories before they're certified! I've got CNN on now and they're talking about how complacent bin Laden had become after all these years. Dropped his guard. Wasn't paying close attention. Assumed he was safe and that his terrorist network would keep him secure and that he'd always slither out of danger in the nick of time.
That said, I think our chances are probably better than expected.
