Two questions. No attempt to answer. Something is not right. I have no idea what. Maybe his support staff got food poisoning in a local restaurant and were too busy vomiting to deal with the crisis. Maybe he has a brain tumor or a series of small strokes. I don't know. But until I do, this smells.

Please note, I do not in any way question the veracity of the maid. I accept that wholly and I'm impressed that she opened her mouth. That kind of wealth is extremely intimidating even if it isn't being directly waved at you.

It's his actions that I find bizarre.

Even before this last brouhaha, I'd heard about this guy and wondered how ANYONE could even THINK that he had a socialist bone in his body. Or a socialist thought in his head. Head of the IMF? WTF? $30k suits? Yeah, that's socialist. EVERY worker owns suits that cost more than my entire family's set of cars.

Most people don't realize that "official" socialist parties in world politics are nothing but bourgeoisie parties with a "working class" face. All Marxists are socialists, but not all socialists are Marxists. Most "socialist" parties are worthless. And yes, even a lot of Marxist parties are worthless too.

Socialists on DU rail against capitalism and assign all evil to it. Any attempt to counter that illusions is met with a standard, "you don't know about marxism, read Karl Marx's book". The IMF head was likely a socialist out of convenience, living in a country that has a powerful socialist culture, sort of like being republican in the south and interior west or democratic in the northeast and pacific coast.

The first person to retweet Pinet, according to Le Post still, was Arnaud Dassier, a spin doctor who had been implicated in previous embarrassing revelations on DSK's luxurious lifestyle. The first website to mention the news was 24heuresactu, a right-wing blog, way before the New York Post, which was the first US outlet to break the news.
Pinet says he got the news from a friend of his who works at the hotel and told him about the commotion.
