Residents to sound off on potential electronic cigarettes ban
Residents to sound off on potential electronic cigarettes ban

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- People fired up over a potential ban on electronic cigarettes are voicing their concerns Monday evening to the Pierce County Board of Health.

....

"Exposing other people to second hand smoke or vapor because of the unknown is not an OK thing to do," said Frank DiBiase, the assistant director of environmental health. "(It's) also confusing when see people smoke e-cig, does it give license to people to then start smoking regular cigarettes?"

The Pierce County Health Department is proposing to have the same regulations apply to e-cigarettes that apply to real cigarettes: You can't sell them to minors, no vaping in public places, and you can't market them by giving away free samples.

...

Thompson says it's demonizing a product because it appears to be smoking, "and simply because it looks like a cigarette or looks like smoke."

1. Wow, I'm about as anti-public tobacco smoking as you can get...

But this seems pretty ridiculous.

E-cigs are a very reasonable alternative to the deadly real deal.

I don't think we should be discouraging it, if it keeps people off the real shit and money out of Big Tobacco's evil deep pockets...

2. We must ban drinking soda from a bottle on the streets, it could be a beer.

3. I've been pulled over before for drinking a bottled Root Beer that looked like a real beer.
No shit. The cop ended up giving me a ticket for not wearing a seat-belt, since he couldn't nail me for drunk driving or anything else.

D'oh!
