Last week, after his Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the self-styled “Chosen One” crouched motionless on the court — as if he had just gone through the Passion of the Christ — before slowly rising and finding his way to the post-game podium and issuing a mealy-mouthed “apology” to the Cleveland fans for the manner in which he left last July.

However, by focusing on the inappropriateness of his tacky, televised “Decision” as the reason to apologize, James and his toadies are missing the point. What James needs to do is get down on his knees and beg forgiveness for flat-out quitting in last year’s series against the Celtics. He needs to come clean and admit that he stopped trying, that he gave up, that he whimpered “uncle” without a fight — and then he needs to explain why.

After that, he needs to fess up as to how and when he began colluding with Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the greasy, Gordon Gekko-like Pat Riley to join together and play for the Heat. And then he needs to explain why he lied about “waking up on the morning” of the day he announced his choice and then-and-only-then finalizing his “Decision.” In other words, he needs to admit he’s a quitter, a liar and a fraud. That’s the only thing I want to hear come out of his prevaricating pie-hole.

Too many people aren't looking at how he just quit. How he colluded with other players to game the system.

It doesn't. He was within the rules to do that and James as a free agent had the right to sign with any team with cap space.

As far as quitting, I don't believe that. Boston is one of the best defensive teams the past few years and they kept Wade, James, and Bryant in-check most of the games they played against each other. Even with that, James still nearly averaged a triple-double in that series last year.

8. James put in a token effort in the playoffs last year. It was obvious.

He did just enough to not raise questions about his performance but not enough to carry Cleveland to the finals.

If he had won a ring in Cleveland, he would have been obligated to stay.

11. I watched the series myself

He did very well except the one game where he shot 3-15(I think) but as a whole Cleveland shot the ball bad in that game--which I credit the Celtic's D. Which is one of the best the past few seasons. They were 1 of the 2 top defenses in the league this season, the other is Chicago. Also Rondo had some fantastic, hall-of-fame type of games which is key as to why they won that series.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

The Cavs destroyed the Celtics and the game was more of a blow out
then the final score showed. LeBron quit in games 4 & 5 end of story.

Also the big picture is just how much having a really good NBA in downtown
Cleveland did for the economy .... many many local jobs were based on the
Cavs selling out every night ...... LeBron leaving really hurt the city. After
all there are things that he could have done that would have made him a winner
in something far more important than basketball.
