I would first drop the income number to the median income of the lower 60% of the US population. Homeless and unemployed get factored into that median income.
They can be given that salary for a lifetime, but are not allowed to ever be a lobbyist, work for a corporation with greater than 150 employees worldwide, or work in any industry that involves "commodities" such as oil, natural gas, coal or other future finite power sources after they retire or are voted out. They are also banned from ever working as a stock broker, real estate agent, insurance agent, or anything in banking.
Upon election all of their assets excluding 1 home valued at less than 500K must be liquidated and placed into either the SS fund or Medicare fund. Every asset period.
Then we can sit back and watch the unemployment numbers drop below 1% and minimum wage skyrocket to $25/hour in less than a decade. The only people that would run would be people that cared about the country and its citizens first, not the top 1% and where they will end up after giving them the farm.
