Chris Christie is a polarizing figure for New Jersey residents, a new poll found, with 49 percent disliking his performance as governor and 47 percent thinking he is doing a good job.
The number who disapprove of the governor’s performance has grown by nine percentage points, from 40 to 49 percent, according to the Monmouth University/New Jersey Press Media poll.
The split follows mostly party lines, with 75 percent of Republicans giving the GOP governor thumbs up. Just 22 percent of Democrats think he is doing a good job. Independent voters are split, with 53 percent saying they like Christie and 41 percent disliking his performance.
